"In everyone's life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit."
Albert Schweitzer

"Love is a symbol of eternity.  It wipes out all sense of time, destroying all memory of a beginning and all fear of an end."
Author Unknown

"A bell is no bell
'til you ring it,
A song is no song
'til you sing it,
And love in your heart
Wasnít put there to stay –
Love isn't love
'Til you give it away."
Oscar Hammerstein

"Love has no desire but to fulfill itself. To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night. To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give thanks for another day of loving. "
Kahlil Gibran

Eric Fromm

There Is No Place In Christianity For Hatred

How are we to treat homosexuals?

Following is a letter to the editor of the Richmond Times Dispatch which was published on September 6,2010. I think the letter is self explanatory so I will make no further comment.

Editor, Times-Dispatch: Those who make a big deal out of sin enjoy the idea that most people are going to be tormented forever in hell. Notice how angry and upset they get at the suggestion that possibly everyone will be saved in the end. You would think that they would rejoice at the idea of more people being saved, but sadly they do not. One of the groups of "sinners" (according to these people) they constantly vilify and upon whom they spew their hatred is homosexuals.

I make no pretense of being a biblical scholar, but nowhere in the Bible that I can find does it tell anyone to hate others, to carry signs that say God hates anyone, or to pass laws denying anyone civil rights. Hatred and denigration are simply not a part of Christianity.

I know several homosexuals. Some are very dear and close friends. Others are casual acquaintances. All of them I respect very much. I am not a homosexual, I am a happily married heterosexual of 54 years.

One of the homosexuals I know is a professional. She is highly respected in her field and beloved by her many associates. Those in her charge follow her lead without question. She is a caring and loving individual. She influences hundreds, if not thousands, of people in the community that she lives and works in.

Her friendship means as much as any friendship. She no more chose her sexuality than I did mine. And I don't recall having ever been given a choice. Her Christian walk is as valid as mine and her salvation as secure. I consider it a privilege to be her friend.

I would choose her again as a friend over a 1,000 of the gay-bashers who infect our land.
